KHYUAN: 當牠在你身邊時 記得好好的待牠 That is so true! I love my horses, just being together makes me so happy (I guess for them,it is a passive relationship: it is OK to have me near them but not necessarily a great joy for them! The only enjoyable time for the horses is to get a nice scratch from me under the chin or over the neck to cure the itch! Until one day I learned Clicker Training from HP, and my horses started to think of ways to get the treat, so they are more active and willing to play games with me. But they did it for the reward (carrots) and not because of me). I don't particularly like to ride very fast.Just finishing a journey with my horse gives me great satisfaction. BuriKhan and me just finished 2 one star endurance races in Xinjiang this Summer and just completing the race is good enough for me. I don't like pushing the horse until it is dead tired. At the last race,I saw one horse pushed till it dropped dead on the grassland at the 46Km point.... just like that. The rider was a herdsman working (he was NOT a participant at the race) and he was just showing off riding so fast. His horse died instantly probably due to cardiac arrest or overheat. He just poked at the dead horse to see if he was really dead..... It was so so sad! Horses are very fragile animals..............we all felt so sorry for his horse, for having such an irresponsible master. For the horse to carry the rider to finish such a long distance (80Km) within a few hours, without any complaints or mischief, tell us how extremely generous and giving a horse really is. Horses should be treasured and loved by humans! [em41] |
