介绍: The horse and rider sculpture is cast in bronze and the legs and base are reinforced with stainless steel. The statue is 9 feet, 6 inches long, 7 feet wide and weighs approximately 2,800 lbs. With the base, the statue stands 11 feet tall.
This sculpture depicts an 1870 to 1880s period cowboy and this piece was selected because it depicted so closely the university's horse and rider logo.
The sculpture is unique in that the entire horse and rider are cantilevered out over the base supported only by the horse's two hind legs.
细节描述: The cowboy is riding a Visalia saddle and has a 60-foot rawhide rope. Behind
his saddle is his Fish brand slicker tied without folding to keep the wax
coating from cracking. He had a hackamore on the young horse complete with
Fiador and Mecate. The cowboy wears G.S. Garcia spurs and shotgun leggings
of the period. He has secured in his holster a .45 Colt single action pistol
in an E.L. Gallatin holster and belt with five cartridges on each side. The
horse is a typical ranch horse for the period with different conformation
than today's modern quarter horse.
