<p>A weekend course has been held in Guangzhou for training prospective Para-Equestrian stewards for the Paralympic Games in September.</p><p>Potential stewards from the Mainland and trainee stewards from Hong Kong took part. Competition Director, Mr Chang Wei, and several staff members of the Equestrian Company were also present at the course, held at the Huangcun Sports Training Base of the Guangdong Sports Commission.</p><p>“The course was successful and more than one-third of the prospective stewards attending have been nominated as Para-Equestrian stewards and, and subject to approval, their names will be entered into a database held by the International Equestrian Federation,” said Mr Nicholas (Nick) Rodgers, who will be Chief Steward for the Paralympic Equestrian Events. “The names of the stewards selected to take part in the events will come from this database”.</p><p>Some 29 stewards will be required for the events from September 7 to 11. Mr Rodgers said their work will include round-the-clock duty at the stables, on a shift basis, as well as stewarding at the training arenas when these are in use. </p><p>The training course was held recently under the auspices of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and hosted by the Chinese Equestrian Federation.</p>
