香港馬術總會報告 HKEF Members Participate in the Olympic Torch Relay
Dear members,
The Hong Kong Equestrian Federation is pleased to announce that 5 of our members, including our President, Dr. Simon Ip, JP, our honorary Treasurer, Mr. Michael Lee, our Jumping rider, Mr. Kenneth Cheng, our Dressage rider, Mrs. Lily Zilo Chiu as well as the captain of Hong Kong Para Equestrian Team, Mr. NelsonYip, have been selected as members of the 120 torch bearers of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong to be held on Today. The Olympic Torch Relay will commence at the Piazza, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsimshatsui at 10:00am later this morning. The route of the Olympic Torch will cover Nathan Road, Tsing Ma Bridge, Shing Mun River, the Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue (Sha Tin), the Shatin Racecourse, the Avenue of Stars, Victoria Harbor, the Legislative Council Building, Olympic Square, the Hong Kong Conference Exhibition Center and, finally, Wanchai Golden Bauhinia Square, where the closing ceremony will be held. A noteworthy feature of the torch relay is that noises will be involved on the Olympic venue for the Torch Relay. As part of this, both of our members, Mr. Kenneth Cheng and Mr. Nelson Yip being as the Olympic torchbearers would be riding on the horseback. Special thanks go to our member, Kate Chong for providing her 2 horses in this special occasion. This will be at the Shatin Racecourse leg, which is expected to happen between 1 and 2 p.m. depending on the overall speed of the torch relay. The whole relay will be covered live on TVB throughout the day. Besides, 7 riders will be doing a Dressage and Jumping demonstration at Hong Kong Sports Institute when the torch relay passes by. School. Special thanks also go to them all. As the prelude to the Beijing Olympic Games, the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay is one of the most important ceremonies and a major means to spread and promote the Olympic spirit. It gives us great honor and pleasure that 5 of our Equestrian representatives are participating in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let's join together and wish the Olympic Torch Relay a resounding success!
