Definition of Stewarding

<p>Stewarding implies the establishing of an efficient, specialised organisation&nbsp; worldwide, under the authoruty of National Federations, to prevent abuse to horses and irregular behaviour of persons involved in equestrian sport at international equestrian events.</p><p>It is absolutely essential that FEI Stewards are not thought of as "police" or "informers", but that everybody involved sees their role as a cooperative one. Most "offences"&nbsp;are committed through ignorance and therefore a timely reminder, tactfully given, before an offence is committed, is much better received than having to deal with a participant once an offence has been committed.</p><p>The task of stewarding may be summed up by ensuring the adherence to&nbsp;the FEI Code of Conduct and thereby preserving&nbsp;the&nbsp;good name of the sport. This should be achieved, where posible, by prevention rather than punishment, although, of course, one should not hesitate&nbsp;to report an offence to the Technical Delegate of Ground Jury, where such action is required.&nbsp;</p>
