There's no positive incentive for the horse to perform. The more the rider "make the horse do", the more the horse wants to avoid the training. The rider then add more force to the horse. The horse becomes even resentful to the training. Both the rider and the horse end up to be in a vicious circle. Of course some horses can overcome all the negatives and be in the state of "learned helpless". I do not want my horse to be in that state. I never "make my horse jump". It is his choice to jump over fences because he knows what comes next. It is my promise to him and this is mutual trust that is built over time. He's my baby and we love each other so much... BTW, 3 feet is enough for me. I do not want to go higher. No need for a guy, who is over 40 years old, to risk his life. HP |
