4月29日： Limited email access so this is a quick one to let you know I have now crossed into Germany. 最新消息到5月28日： Dear All, Today I crossed the Rhine to Strasbourg and rode into France! I will be following the Marne-Rhine canal to Nancy, Bar le Duc and Rheims. Zorbee had a few days off in Germany last week while I fetched my Shagya mare from Hungary. She is now with friend Ingrid Delaitre near Dieppe awaiting my arrival. Ingrid has been helping me with arrangements and has provided a few contacts on my route across France - I hope to reach Dieppe by the end of the month. I would like to thank everyone who made my journey through Austria and Germany so smooth and enjoyable - the riding was superb and much better than I ever expected, largely thanks to all the help and advice I received with route planning. Tonight we have been given free run of the grounds of an old restaurant by the canal. The horses are grazing quietly and I can hear a nightingale singing its heart out somewhere in the dark! 5月1日： Dear All, Attached is photo of me crossing into Germany on Bolashak the little Kazakh stallion - this is actually his real name which I have now reverted to. And on the left is the Shagya arabian gelding who has become the new Zorbee! He is being ridden by a journalist from the German equestrian magazine Cavallo, who rode with me for half a day as there will be an article about the ride in the June issue. Dear All, I have now left the Danube behind to the north of Ulm, and am setting out across the Black Forest area towards Offenburg in the Rhine valley. I hope to reach Strasbourg in France in about a week's time. The riding in Germany has been fabulous. I had imagined that I would spend a lot of time tramping along busy roads, but in fact we have been wandering through field and forest on gravel and grass paths, and see very few people outside the settlements. I am being joined for sections by German friends/riders, who have also been helping me with finding routes and accomodation. For those of you who follow my blog, I have managed to bring it a touch more up to date, and am nearly out of Austria!
