VETERINARIANS – 兽医

A veterinarian shall be deemed to be any person who has received a formal veterinary qualification in accordance with national practice.

By the way,  I wonder if testing veterinarians are in charge of MCP(medication control programme) and examining veterinarians are responsible for general examination and horse inspection.

 Susan, no, worries, I will explain each categories seperately later on.

But first of all, explain in details of the Testing Vet and the Examining Vet as you asked the question.

Testing Veterinarians - Are specially responsible for carrying out Medication Control under the MCP programme in Groups I & II, in certain geographical areas, indicated by the Bureau (VR Art.1014). They must always operate in close liaison with the Veterinary Commission/Delegate and the Ground Jury. Where no Testing Veterinarian is present the (Foreign) Veterinary Delegate is responsible for medication control.

Examining Veterinarians - Must have specific orthopaedic experience. Examining Veterinary Commission /Delegate to act in the Holding Box and provide the Inspection Panel with an expert opinion on the fitness of the horses to compete. This procedure is operative for doubtful horses during the Horse Inspection (VR Art. 1011).

So from the above saying, we know that Testing Vets is for MCP, but in some competitions, the Testing Vet is not a must, so if he is not present, the FVD will be responsible for medication control. Examininng Vets are not for Horse Inspection, we usually call the vets in the Holding Box the Examining Vets. The Horse Inspection is carried out by Veterinary Commission/Veterinay Delegate. Only when they find the horse doubltful, they will sent the horse to the Holding Box for the Examining Vets.
